Development of Dichelops melacanthus and its egg parasitoid Telenomus podisi reared on Bt-soybean MON 87701 x MON 89788 and its near conventional isoline under different temperatures Anais da ABC (AABC)
Bortolotto,Orcial C.; Bueno,Adeney F.; Stopa,Ynaiara K.; Silva,Gabriela V.; Queiroz,Ana Paula.
Dichelops melacanthus was studied under controlled conditions (60 ± 10% RH and 14/10 h L/D photoperiod), and three constant temperatures (19, 25, and 31 ± 2 °C). Fresh pods of MON 87701 × MON 89788 soybeans and its near non-Bt isoline (A5547) were supplied to nymphs and adults. The biology of T. podisi was studied in the same controlled RH conditions, but only at the standard temperature of 25 ± 2 °C. Overall, the development of D. melacanthus was better at higher temperatures, which accelerated the development of the stink bug without affecting adult biological parameters. No influence of Bt-soybeans on the biology of the pest was observed in any temperature studied, which shows that D. melacanthus is not affected by this transgenic soybean. The egg...

Does mating interfere in the biological characteristics of a population of Trichogramma pretiosum? Anais da ABC (AABC)
PRATISSOLI,DIRCEU; KLOSS,THIAGO G.; ZINGER,FERNANDO D.; CARVALHO,JOSÉ R. DE; VIANNA,ULYSSES R.; PAES,JOÃO P.P..
Trichogramma spp. are parasitoids used in the regulation of insect populations that can cause economic damage. In order to ensure good performance, understanding some of their biological characteristics is essential. The objective of this study is to evaluate whether mating interferes with the biological characteristics of a population of Trichogramma pretiosum collected in the field. In all experiments, groups of mated and unmated females were used. We also verified any interference from mating on the biological characteristics of the offspring. We found that mating can alter the parasitism and longevity of genitor females, in addition to changing longevity among the descendants, but once parasitized, the eggs develop normally, showing similar emergence...

Emergence, longevity and fecundity of Trissolcus basalis and Telenomus podisi after cold storage in the pupal stage PAB
Foerster,Luís Amilton; Doetzer,Augusta Karkow; Castro,Letícia Cunha Ferreira de.
Pupae of Trissolcus basalis (Wollaston) and Telenomus podisi Ashmead (Hymenoptera: Scelionidae) were stored at 12ºC and 15ºC for 120-210 days, after different periods of parasitism at 18ºC in order to evaluate adult emergence, longevity and ovipositional capacity. There was no emergence of adults at 12ºC. The rate of emergence of parasitoids transferred to 15ºC at the beginning of the pupal stage was 1.5% and 26.3%, for T. basalis and T. podisi respectively, whereas those parasitoids transferred one day before the expected date of emergence at 18ºC showed 86.4% of emergence for T. basalis and 59.9% for T. podisi. Mean adult longevity was also significantly lower when pupae were transferred to 15ºC at the beginning of the pupal stage. Females emerged after...

Relative warp analysis to study morphological variations in the genital capsule of Trichogramma pretiosum Riley (Hymenoptera: Trichogrammatidae) Neotropical Entomology
QUERINO,RANYSE B.; MORAES,REGINA C.B. DE; ZUCCHI,ROBERTO A..
The influence of the host on the morphology of the male genital capsule of Trichogramma pretiosum Riley was studied by geometric morphometric analysis. Specimens of the parasitoid obtained from 10 different Lepidoptera host species were used. Initially, landmarks were defined and Cartesian coordinates (x and y) for each landmark of the genital capsule of all specimens were obtained. The anatomic landmarks transformed to Cartesian coordinates were then analyzed by generalized orthogonal least-square procedure. Consensus configuration of the genital capsule for all specimens was obtained and partial and relative warps were determined. Fifteen landmarks generated 24 relative warps for each specimen. The ordination of the relative warps (alpha = 0), using...

The potential of Mythimna sequax Franclemont eggs for the production of Trichogramma spp. after cryopreservation in liquid nitrogen Rev. Ciênc. Agron.
Paixão,Magda Fernanda; Foerster,Luís Amilton; Foerster,Marion do Rocio.
ABSTRACT The cryopreservation of noctuid eggs in liquid nitrogen has proved be a promising tool in the mass production of Trichogramma, however studies into this technique have only just begun. This study evaluated the response of different densities of the female of Trichogramma pretiosum Riley to the parasitism of Mythimna sequax eggs stored and not stored in liquid nitrogen, and the performance of females reared only in cryopreserved eggs. The study evaluated the influence of the number of T. pretiosum females (4, 8 and 12) released to parasitise 40 M. sequax eggs, stored and not stored for 15 days in liquid nitrogen, as well as the performance of T. pretiosum females reared in eggs stored for three generations and females reared in non-stored eggs....
